Card Acceptance Terms for Car Rental
Accepted Payment Cards
At the time of rental, the reservation holder must present at the desk a valid credit or debit card issued by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or UnionPay, showing the cardholder’s first and last name.
Payment Cards Not Accepted
The following cards are not accepted as a guarantee:
- Prepaid cards of any type.
- Revolving cards, Postepay, Visa Electron, V Pay, PagoBancomat, Viabuy, and PayPal.
- Cards bearing the ‘Electron’ logo or the wording ‘Electron Use Only’
- Cards issued under the ‘Maestro’ network.
Funds Availability and Cardholder Details
The card must have sufficient funds to cover any security deposits, financial liabilities, or additional charges. It must also be issued in the name of the reservation holder, who will sign the rental agreement. Customers are advised to verify their card PIN before arriving at the desk.
Monthly / Multi-Month Rental
This rental option is permitted only with a financial credit card provided as a guarantee. Debit and prepaid cards are not accepted.
Security Deposit: What It Is and How It Works
The Security Deposit
During the rental period, the company requires a security deposit as a guarantee for the use of the vehicle.
- The amount is pre-authorised on the credit card provided.
- It is used to verify the validity of the card and to protect the rental provider.
- The security deposit is released at the end of the rental period, after the vehicle has been inspected and all contractual obligations have been fulfilled.
Security Deposit Refund
The systems release the security deposit immediately after the rental agreement is closed, issuing a receipt or sending it by email. However:
- The actual availability of the funds depends on interbank processing times and the card issuer.
- It may take between 7 and 30 days for the refund to appear on your statement.
- For any questions, customers are advised to contact their bank.
